TorqueGuardian Step
Overview
TorqueGuardian™ automates how you monitor, control, and optimize your critical torque fastening operations on the production floor. It supports the Kolver K-ducer torque wrench family with capabilities that go beyond basic quality control. Every fastener under torque control is now tracked, with comprehensive torque curve data stored for each screw. Each fastener can be photographically documented, creating a visual verification system that delivers traceability like never before. Learn More.
Configurable Parameters
Target Torque: The target torque value programmed to the wrench
Max Torque: The max torque permissible before an error is flagged to the operator
Torque Units: in/lbs, Nm, c.Nm
Initial speed: Starting speed in RPM
Final speed: Final speed towards end of fastening operation in RPM
Enable Angle Check: This feature uses the angle of rotation to verify if the fastener operation occurred correctly. This is important in the event that the fastener cross threads, their is debris in the thread or the fastener is too long or short.
Final Rotation Angle: Captured during step creation in degrees of rotation. 720 degrees corresponds to 3 turns.
Permitted Angle Tolerance: The percent of angle variation expressed as a plus / minus tolerance. Example: 720 degrees +/- 30%.
How to use TorqueGuardian™
- First configure your smart torque wrench following this procedure: Installing a Torque Wrench: Modbus TCP
- Select Torque Only step type from the step sequence builder

- Select the region of interest and configure the torque wrench settings for the step

- Perform the fastener operation and verify all your settings including whether you wish to use Angle Check before proceeding.

Running In Production
During production operation, the torque for each step is dynamically set on the fly accelerating the process of assemblies with a variety of different torque values and tolerances. In the event an error is detected during torque fastening, the system will provide actionable guidance to the operator to expedite corrective action and remediation.
